Welcome to the Department of Recreation, Tourism, & Sport Management at Southern Connecticut State University! Our programs represent some of the largest industries in the world.

Professionals trained in recreation, recreation therapy, child life therapy, tourism, event management, & sport management work in a variety of settings: community agencies, federal, state, & municipal agencies, state & federal parks, private commercial enterprises, professional, intercollegiate, & interscholastic sport organizations, youth development organizations, not-for-profit organizations, hospitals & rehabilitation settings, as well as travel, hospitality, & entertainment venues.

Career Updates:

  • Sport & Entertainment Management (M.S.) graduate Taylor Carlson has been hired
    as the Assistant Director of Facilities and Events at VCU.

  • Recreation Therapy (M.S.) graduate Taylor Edinger has been hired as a
    Therapeutic Recreation Specialist at the Hospital for Special Care.

  • Recreation Therapy (M.S.) graduates Melanie Davenport and Sage Hojda 
    successfully completed the 
    NCTRC Certification Exam.

  • Sport & Entertainment Management (M.S.) graduate Eddie Rodriguez has been
    hired as a Group Sales Associate with the New York Mets.

  • RTSM students Brittany Czajkowski and Leah Whitaker were honored by the Connecticut Recreation & Parks Association (CRPA). Brittany was awarded the
    Dorothy G. Mullen Student Scholarship, while Leah is the recipient of the George
    Sanford Student Scholarship.
