Courses and Learning Outcomes

In addition to Southern’s innovative Liberal Education Program (LEP), Sport Management students will develop an individualized plan of study, including a combination of core and concentration or elective courses, and have the option of pursuing a minor and/or a study abroad experience.

Core Courses

Core courses provide a strong theoretical and practical foundation in sport leadership, athletic administration, sport ethics, sport marketing, event management, facility management, research methods, and legal aspects of sport. All Sport Management students take these courses.

Elective Courses

In addition to the core courses for the Sport Management major, students also have their choice of a variety of elective courses in Sport Management. Students may also pursue one of the RTSM Department minors (Leadership Development or Event Management) or another minor in any department at Southern!
