Cognate Options For LEP
Every Social Work major at SCSU is required to take 6 Cognate classes OR complete the requirements for any minor at the University. Both options require 6 classes/18 credits. If a student chooses the Cognate option, they must pick 6 courses from this list of accepted Social Work Cognate classes:

- Any Sociology class (SOC) (including SOC0*, SOC Transfer Electives)
- Any Anthropology class (ANT)
- Any Psychology class (PSY) (including PSY0*, PSY Transfer Electives)
- Any Women’s Studies class (WMS)
- Any Public Health Class (PCH)
- Any DAR Classes (except DAR*251 and DAR*252)
