2019 Admission and Registration deadlines
Spring 2019 - all applicants
The application deadline for Spring 2019 admission is Friday, January 11, 2019.
The last day applications will be accepted is Monday, January 14.
The last day for ALL new students to register is Friday, January 18.
The first day of Spring classes is Tuesday, January 22, 2019.
Applicants for Freshman Admission are encouraged to apply now via the Common Application.
Early Action - Fall 2019 Freshman applications submitted by November 1, 2018 will be considered for Early Action notification. Completed applications will be notified of admission beginning December 15, 2018. Applications will be processed on a rolling basis after December 15.
The priority application deadline for Fall 2019 Transfer admission is Thursday August
1, 2019. This priority date is highly recommended for best course availability and
The last day Transfer applications will be accepted is Friday, August 16.
The last day for Transfers to register is Friday, August 23.
The first day of Fall 2019 classes is Tuesday, August 27, 2019.

The requirements for admission to Southern Connecticut State University are intended to ensure that students offered admission are adequately prepared for the academic program and will benefit significantly from their total college experience.
Southern's individualized program of admission assures that the student's experience through and since high school is taken into consideration. Appropriate innovative programs and courses taken through non-traditional curricula are also given full consideration. Therefore, students who believe they meet the spirit of the University admission program are encouraged to apply.
Students are admitted to the University without regard to age, sex, race, color, creed, sexual orientation, ethnicity, national origin, religion or disability, and it is expected that the student body will reflect a wide range of cultural values and backgrounds.
Application Fee Waivers
First time freshmen: Application Fee Waiver-Freshmen applicants - A waiver of the admissions application fee is authorized for any financially needy student, who (A) has taken the SAT I test using the SAT Fee Waiver; or (B) is a participant in CONNTAC-EOC or an equally recognized educational entity; or (C) is a participant CSU-sanctioned special access program such as CONNCAP or Upward Bound; or (D) in the opinion of the university president or designee has special circumstances. Transfer students: Application Fee Waiver-Transfer and non-traditional applicants- A waiver of the admission application fee is authorized for any financially needy student who completes and submits to the admission office the Transfer Application Fee Waiver form.
- CSCU Transfer Ticket - If an Associate’s degree has been conferred at one of the CT community colleges, all college-level courses with passing grades are transferable. See the CT State Colleges and Universities website for more information about Dual Admission and the Transfer Ticket.
- Fresh Start - For formerly matriculated students who would like to be readmitted and disregard previous record.
- Part-Time Study - Work towards a degree while studying part time.
- New England Regional Tuition - New England Regional Tuition Break Program permits qualified residents of the New England states to study with special admission and tuition privileges in certain programs at Southern.
