R.I.D.E.S. program

Reducing Individual Dangers and Encouraging Safety

R.I.D.E.S. allows students to obtain their very own Metro Card assigned to their individual student ID number.  Students can register for their card at the Drug and Alcohol Resource Center.  Once registered, students have the ability to call any Metro Taxi in CT at any time and swipe their Metro Card to pay for the charge (whether or not the student has put money on it).

R.I.D.E.S is a program designed to offer students a responsible mode of transportation when one is needed. R.I.D.E.S is available to students 24 hours a day and can be used for any reason with "no questions asked." It is especially designed for circumstances when you might lack cash, but need a safe way to get out of an uncomfortable situation, such as being too intoxicated to drive or riding with an angry or intoxicated friend.

How to manage your R.I.D.E.S. Account:  Students have two options.  Students can choose to manage their account online at and opt to put money on it using a debit card or credit card.

If students choose not to put money on their account, they will still be able to use their R.I.D.E.S. card anywhere at anytime but their student university accounts will be charged.  Students are encouraged to pay these charges as they appear.  If a student neglects to pay their R.I.D.E.S. charges, their university account will be put on hold.  When a student's university account is put on hold, they are unable to register for classes.

Students can view their university accounts online at Bannerweb.
