Meet the Enrollment Management Team
Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management
Julie Edstrom joined Southern in July 2019, bringing over 25 years of experience in higher education enrollment management, marketing, and student services. Edstrom is a leader and strategist with deep experience in areas including recruitment and enrollment planning, admissions, student financial services, marketing, retention, institutional research, adult and graduate program development, as well as cabinet- and board-level visioning and planning. She brings a successful record of progressive responsibility, process improvements, and staff development. She comes to Southern from University of Providence in Great Falls, Mont., where she was vice president of enrollment management. Previously, she served in various capacities at Augsburg University in Minneapolis, Minn., most recently as vice president of enrollment management.
Edstrom received her Bachelor of Arts degree in international relations and her Master of Arts degree in leadership at Augsburg University.
Banner ERP Specialist
Kim is currently serving as Banner Specialist for the Enrollment Management Division. She has been with Southern since 2004 and has a strong knowledge of the Banner Student module. In her functional/technical role, and in partnership with the Office of Information Technology, she provides the enrollment offices with assistance in the implementation and integration of applications that support the mission of the university.
Kim is also an alum of Southern (BS, 1991). She went on to study Organizational Management at Eastern Connecticut State University (MS, 2001) and Adult Learning at UCONN (MA, 2016). She is continuing to study Project Management, as well as other areas of personal interest.
Maria Vasquez is the primary Enrollment Management support staff contact for Dr. Sass. In her role, Maria coordinates all office operations including policies and procedures, prepares narratives and monthly reports, arranges and coordinates all meetings and events for the AVP and is responsible for budget management. Maria is goal oriented and seeks different avenues to learn new skills and concepts that will enhance the operations of the office and support her professional growth. During the spring of 2016, Maria attended several in-service trainings to improve her effectiveness and seeks new opportunities to enhance the division (i.e., books, webinars and seminars). Prior to joining the EM team, she worked seven years in Academic and Career Advising.
Maria has completed a certification at the Institute of Technology and Business Development and studied at Housatonic Community College.
