Levi Romero: Poetry Reading and Lecture 

Join us as we hear from Poet Levi Romero on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 3:30 p.m. in the English Common Room EN D 253. This will surely be a memorable reading and noteworthy lecture! 

Accelerated Nursing Program Exploration

Join the SCSU's Multicultural Center, SCSU's School of Nursing and the NAACP as we learn about the accelerated nursing  program offered at the university. The session will be held in the Adanti Student Center Theater at 1:00 pm on January 27, 2014.

Meet and Greet with Dr. LaFayette

Student leaders on campus are invited to meet and greet with Dr. LaFayette, keynote speaker at the 2014 MLK Celebration. The welcoming session begins at 10:30 am in the Adanti Student Center Room 301.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration

Join us on January 29th, 2014 at 1:00 pm in the Adanti Student Center Ballroom as we commemorate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with out keynote speaker, Dr. Bernard LaFayette, along with performances by the winners of the Expressions of Social Justice Talent Show, Jamaal Sancho and Rachel Polansky, New Haven Unity Boys Choir and SCSU's very own Aziza Dance Company.

42: The Story of a True American Legend

Join us as we watch the historical sports drama 42, where the first Black major league baseball player, Jackie Robinson is signed onto the Brooklyn Dodgers. The screening begins at 12:00 p.m. in the Adanti Student Center Theater.

Chinese New Year Celebration: The Year of the Horse

Come celebrate with us on February 5th at 12:00 p.m. in Engleman B 121 A & B as we enjoy a show from Amity Chinese Honor Society, traditional food, calligraphy, handcrafts, singing, and red envelopes as gifts.

Kingian Non-violence training info-session

Come Learn more about the Kingian Nonviolence training at the two info sessions on February 10th from 1-2 pm in the Adanti Student Center Ballroom and 4-5 p.m. in the Adanti Student Center Theater.

First Generation

Narrated by Golden Globe Nominee Blair Underwood, First Generation tells the story of four high school students- an inner city athlete, a small town waitress, a Samoan warrior dancer, and the daughter of migrant field-workers, who set out to break the cycle of poverty and bring hope to their families and communities by pursuing a college education. The film will be screened February 10th at 7:00 pm in the Adanti Student Center Room 301, and on February 11th at 4:00 p.m in Adanti Student Center Room 201.


Join us as we table at the Heart Health Fair on February 12th, 2014 at 12:00p.m. as we explore the idea and current state of Interracial relationships.

The Strong, the bold & the beautiful: Celebrating the art of healthy hair

Join us for an evening all about hair, as we share tips products, and experiences! Topics include retaining hair length, hair care, protective styles, detoxification, and more! There will be giveaways of body & hair care products so this is the one event you do not want to miss!!! The event begins February 12th at 7:30 p.m. in the Adanti Student Center Theater.

Dark Girls Documentary Screening

 Join us as we screen the critically acclaimed film, Dark Girls. This film investigates the issue of colorism, self-esteem, and the complicated relationship some black women have with their complexion. Discussion followed after screening. This event is on February 19th at 12:00 p.m. in the Adanti Student Center Theater.

Revisiting the color line

Join us as we revisit the color line and investigate if race is still an issue in our modern world. This panel discussion begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Adanti Student Center Theatre on February 19, 2014.

explore turkey: celebrating history and culture

Come celebrate the history and culture of Turkey! There will be an Ebru demonstration and dishes of Turkish food to sample. The event will be held at 1:00 pm on February 24 in the Adanti Student Center Room 301.


Celebrate the essence of Black culture with delicious cuisine such as Dumplings, Hoppin John, BBQ Chicken, Corn bread, Mac & Cheese, Chicken, Fried fish and in Connecticut Hall from 11:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m. There will be live music from steel drum band, Carribbean Vibe!

Real Talk Commuter Series: Meet and Greet

Join us on 2/26/2014 at the the Multicultural Center, Rm 234 in the Adanti Student Center at 12:30-2:00pm, where students will have the opportunity to drop by and participate in informal conversations regarding the commuter experience while enjoying free coffee, pastries and donuts.

King Non-violence Training

This two day workshop teaches the six principles of Kingian Non-Violence as well as the philosophy of non-violent social change as applied to a broad spectrum of individual, group, institutional and systemic conflicts. This event will be held at 1:00 pm on February 28 inEngleman Hall B 121 A&B and on March 1, at 9:00 a.m. in the Adanti Student Center Ballroom B. This event is free for all of Southern's faculty, staff, students and community members.

Real Talk Commuter Series: Work with us to enhance the commuter experience

Join us on March 10,2014 at the Multicultural Center, Rm 234 in the Adanti Student Center at 12:30-2 p.m., where students will have the opportunity to meet SCSU faculty and staff and discuss some of the trials and tribulations facing our commuter population while enjoying a variety of multicultural appetizers.

Women's Appreciation  Ceremony

Celebrate SCSU women of character, courage, and commitment with us as a tribute to sisterhood in memory of Zannette Lewis.  There will be live entertainment and a key note speaker, LeKeesha Miller-Jackson.  This event will take place in Engleman A120 on March 27, 2014 at 7:00pm. See you there!

Real Talk Commuter Series: Did You know?

Join us on April 14, 2014 at the Multicultural Center, Rm 234 in the Adanti Student Center at 12:30-2:00 p.m., to learn how to navigate SCSU experience with ease and comfort. This is an opportunity to share information with students on available scholarships, campus history, campus services, and more while enjoying free ice cream.

AAMI Campus visit

SCSU Multicultural Center will be hosting the New York City's African American Male Initiative. This group of 8th grade boys who will be visiting Southern Connecticut State University and have the opportunity to tour the campus and meet with student leaders. This event will be held at 12:00 p.m. on April 22, in the Adanti Student Center Rm 312.
