Alternative Programs


The American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS) offers numerous Study Abroad Programs in over twenty countries, including Austria, China, England, Spain, Fiji, and South Africa.

Academic Programs International (API) offers many affordable and comprehensive abroad programs in twenty different countries around the world, including Argentina, China, Chile, England, Spain, Italy, Ireland, and France.

The Council on International Education and Exchange (CIEE) offers a variety of programs in countries as
far-flung as Cambodia and Tanzania, or as close as New York City. Students can choose to study, work or volunteer abroad in any of the more than 30 countries available, while taking advantage of the affordable and comprehensive programs designed to fully immerse them in the culture of their host country.  A few popular locations include France, Ireland, Germany, China, South Korea and others.

 CIS abroad

The Center for International Studies Abroad (CIS Abroad) encourages students to pursue credits in their fields in over 20 countries, including Peru, Spain, Italy and Australia. Earn credit towards your degree while taking classes in exotic locales and historic universities. Popular fields include Engineering and Applied Science, Visual and Performing Arts, and Health, among others.

Students  interested in shorter terms can participate in CIS Abroad’s January or Summer programs or choose to intern abroad. The multi-country Discover Europe! Summer Series takes students on a whirlwind tour through the Mediterranean or through Europe’s most popular destinations in Italy, France and England.

ISEP Direct

SCSU offers Direct options through the International Student Exchange Programs (ISEP), a network that combines over 300 universities in 42 different countries to provide students with a variety of study abroad opportunities.  ISEP offers programs in multiple languages including English in countries around the world.

 The Study Abroad Institute (SAI) is unique among our affiliates in that it offers students the chance to study design, fashion, cuisine and the arts. Though SAI offers plenty of support for those looking to complete their specific degree requirements, many of its programs are designed to get students hands-on experience, through internships or field-specific courses in the kitchen or studio.
