The Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), is located in the largest and most populous city in the Canary Islands. The university hosts a body of more than 24,000 students, about 1,000 of which are international students. Courses are offered in a variety of programs, including 19 Master and 41 Ph.D programs . Southern students interested in ULPGC should have some proficiency in Spanish, or consider taking Business or Modern Language courses, which are offered in English. Unversidad de Las Palmas offers a number of resources for international students looking to improve or establish their fluency in Spanish.  Welcome Week events offer a host of activities, including SPA courses and a chance for students to settle into their new environment. ULPGC  also maintains a Spanish language center, with programs that run throughout the year.

ULPGC Campus CompOn-campus housing at ULPGC can be competitive, but students travelling to Gran Canaria can choose from a variety of options including home-stays and dorm residences. Meals are provided by the central cafeteria, and are meal plans are available to on-campus students as part of housing costs or a pay-as-you go option for individual meals.  Off-campus housing options are also available.

Students travelling to Las Palmas can expect subtropical weather, with mild temperatures that rarely stray below 50 degrees Fahrenheit. As the capital of Gran Canaria, Las Palmas offers a variety of activities for students, from a bustling nightlife to four major beaches renowned for both their pristine sand and challenging surf. The Carnival of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is held annually in February, drawing over 200,000 people each year for its primary parade: the Cabalgata.

Las Palmas is the central transportation hub for the island of Gran Canaria, and boasts an expansive network  of high-quality buses called "guaguas." The Gran Canaria Airport offers students and residents regional flights to adjoining islands as well as a number of international destinations in Europe and North Africa. Flights to the Spanish mainland run frequently.
