The Biology Department offers majors in Biology (Bachelor of ArtsdegreeBachelor of SciencedegreeBachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education, & Minor in Biology), and Biotechnology (Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology with Chemistry Minor & Industry Internship).

 Declaring a Major in Biology or in Biotechnology

Courses in these programs should be selected with the assistance and approval of a Departmental Advisor.  Students are assigned a Faculty Advisor when they declare a Biology Major.  Students may then choose an Academic Area of Interest in Biology.  Declaration of Major forms will be signed by the department chair and must be submitted to the registrar's office in the Wintergreen building.

In the B.S./B.A. Biology degree program, students may choose to indicate an interest in one or more content areas:

  1. General Biology (includes all secondary education majors)
  2. Aquatic/Marine Biology
  3. Botany
  4. Environmental Biology
  5. Microbiology
  6. Physiology
  7. Pre-Health (Pre-Medical, Pre-Vet., Pre-Dental, Pre-P.A.)
  8. Zoology
