Dr. Bennett is a Professor of Mathematics with experience in designing projects and
labs using different Computer Algebra Systems for Differential Equations, Linear Algebra,
and all levels of Calculus. She will work on developing materials using CAS and give
related workshops at the Institute for college-level mathematics courses.
Dr. Brin is a Professor of Mathematics with a long history of supporting and using
open source mathematical software. He will help organize and deliver workshops at
the Institute and produce materials with a focus on algebra and calculus for the high
school and college level.
Mr. Brzezinski is a full-time mathematics teacher at Berlin High School and an adjunct
faculty member of Central Connecticut State University's Department of Mathematical
Sciences. He has taught a wide range of courses ranging from remedial mathematics
to UConn/AP Calculus. Within the mathematics classroom, he regularly uses GeoGebra
to foster active, student-centered, discovery-based learning. He will continue to
give professional development workshops for middle school & secondary mathematics
teachers in effectively using GeoGebra as a platform for discovery-based learning,
a tool to differentiate instruction, and a resource for meaningful student remediation.
Dr. Carrigan is an Associate Professor of Mathematics with a research background in
Computational and Discrete Geometry and experience in secondary education and teacher
training. He will develop activities in Algebra and Geometry for undergraduate college
courses and high school secondary courses and give workshops at the Institute.
Dr. Mugno is a Professor of Mathematics with a research background in statistics.
He will help organize and deliver workshops at the Institute and produce materials
with a focus on probability and statistics for the high school and college level.
Dr. Vaden-Goad is an Associate Professor of Mathematics with a research background
in Geometric Topology. He has taught geometry using technological tools for student
investigation at both undergraduate and graduate levels for many years. In addition,
he has been doing classroom based investigations and research for nearly twenty years.
