Ms. Ballou is the Executive Director for Community and Government Relations for YNHHS. Her responsibilities include developing the Hospital's legislative strategies on the federal and state levels and supporting the Hospital's commitment to serving its community. Kyle has almost thirty years of experience with legislation at the local, state and federal level and has covered the legislatures in Connecticut, Rhode Island and Florida as well as Congress.
In 1985 after graduation from the University of Connecticut School of Law she began working as Associate General Counsel with the Connecticut Business and Industry Association (CBIA), the state-wide Chamber of Commerce. During her first few months with CBIA she passed the Connecticut Bar and went on to advocate for major changes in the state’s tort laws. This successful action led to a revolutionary change in the way malpractice suits are filed and adjudicated. Ms. Ballou left CBIA to become General Counsel at the Connecticut State Medical Society (CSMS) the state-wide organization for physicians and the state affiliate of the American Medical Association (AMA). While at CSMS she not only led the organizations advocacy, she served as their in-house legal counsel, saving the organization several thousand dollars in legal fees. Moving on to ever increasing responsibility, Kyle went on to be the Vice President of Public Policy for the Fleet Bank with dual headquarters in Hartford and Boston. It was there that she not only covered banking issues for Fleet in Connecticut and Rhode Island (her state of origin) she also covered life insurance issues for the bank in the state of Florida.
Now Ms. Ballou administers a staff of six (6) at Yale New Haven Health System, the largest and most comprehensive healthcare system in Connecticut, which includes over twenty-four thousand (24,844) employees and seven corporate member delivery Networks, Yale-New Haven Hospital (YNHH): Bridgeport Hospital (BH); and Greenwich Hospital (GH), HSC, Lawrence & Memorial (L&M), Westerly Hospital, as well as a physician foundation, Northeast Medical Group (NEMG).
