Brief Description of Duties/Responsibilities: Southern invites applications from individuals who believe in the mission of public higher education and are committed to outstanding teaching and scholarship/creative activity. Successful candidates will be disciplinary scholars devoted to a student-centric approach.
The Public Utility Management Concentration is a brand-new program for SCSU that is being offered in cooperation with Gateway Community College and industry leaders of the Connecticut Utility field. The successful candidate will be the primary contact for this program with our various constituencies as well as being responsible for all curricular design.
The Department of Management/MIS/IB seeks a qualified faculty member to fill this full time, tenure track opening beginning in August 2019. Successful candidates will be expected to teach at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels; teaching responsibilities may include evenings and weekends. Scholarly activities, productive service and student advisement are required; engagement with the business community is expected.
Required Education: A research doctorate in management or related field is required, preferably from an AACSB accredited institution. ABD applicants will be considered. Earned doctorate must be completed within two years of appointment. Alternatively, applicants with an appropriate terminal degree and substantial, recent senior-level practitioner experience will be considered.
Required Qualifications: Successful candidates must demonstrate their ability to be qualified under our AACSB standards. All candidates must demonstrate evidence of their ability to teach effectively at the university level to a diverse group of undergraduate students as well as their ability to teach hybrid online/on-ground classes. Candidates must demonstrate an ability to engage in meaningful scholarship. Candidates must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate their qualifications and experience in teaching several or more courses in Utilities Management courses. Preference will be given to candidates with significant experience in the industry and in higher education environments.
