Southern Connecticut State University seeks applicants for the position of Assistant Bursar –Accounts Receivable.  This position is primarily responsible for the billing and collection of student tuition and fees.  These responsibilities include tuition and fee assessment, communicating billing information and deadlines, issuing statements, negotiating past due payment plan arrangements, reviewing past due accounts, application of holds, and coordinating collection efforts with collection staff.  This position is also responsible performing third party billing and payment collection, coordinating billing and collection activities of the Perkins and Nursing Faculty student loan programs, and maintaining the procedures related to all areas of responsibility. 

A Bachelor’s Degree in business, accounting, finance, or related field required. An MBA or Master’s Degree in accounting/finance preferred. A minimum three years of experience in collections required, tuition experience preferred, and demonstrated knowledge of current federal regulation concerning due diligence and bankruptcy regulation preferred. Candidate must possess excellent communication skills with demonstrated competence in handling complex information and the ability to relate positively to students, parents and University staff. Experience with computers and windows based software is required, experience with ERP systems (Banner) preferred. These qualifications may be waived for individuals with appropriate alternate experience.
